Taio Cruz
Yesterday we went to a concert of a famous Nigerian singer. His name is Taio Cruz but his real name is actually Jacob Taio Cruz. He was born on 23 April 1985 in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. His father is from Nigeria, but his mother is Brazilian.
At the age of 3, they moved to Warwickshire in the United Kingdom. Cruz started writing songs when he was 12 years old. He released his first debut single ‘I just wanna know’ in 2006. The single attracted significant attention from radio but also from music industry insiders. That moment Jamie Binns suggested to be his manager. This was the start of his famous career.
In September 2009, Cruz released his second single ‘Moving On’. Later he worked together with famous musicians like Busta Rhymes and the girl group Sugababes.
But his most famous song in 2009 was ‘Break your heart’. This one reached number one in the UK, where he stayed for three weeks. ‘Break your heart’ wasn’t the only song that was very popular. He scored also high with the tracks ‘Dynamite’, ‘Hangover’ and ‘She’s like a star’.
Taio is also a writing producer. He has written songs for Cheryl Cole, Jennifer Lopez, Keshia, The Saturdays and David Guetta. He is one of the best DJ’s in the world.
This well-known singer has been nominated for different awards, a total of 21. He has won 10 of this prizes. These are the Brit Awards, American Music Awards, Billboard Awards and ASCAP Awards. In 2011 he won the prize ‘Song of the year’ with ‘Dynamite. This gave his imago a boost and he reached the top with this song. Everybody over the world knew it.
That is the reason why we went to one of his concerts. It was a beautiful experience with a lot of amazing memories that we will never forget! :)
