Famous people from Norway

Ooh, we arrived in our last country from this amazing trip! I am a little bit sad, because it’s almost over. This week, we are in Norway. What a beautiful country with kind people, tasty food and fantastic views. We are staying in a youth hostel and we have a view over the mountains. I love the mountains and the snow, so we are going to a ski contest tomorrow. These guys are really awesome and very fast on their skis.

It was possible to put money on your favourite ski runner. I picked Marit Bjørgen. Why? Well, I will tell you a little bit more about her.

Marit Bjørgen was born on 21 March 1980 in Trondheim. She is a Norwegian cross-country skier and was six times Olympic champion from Midtre Gauldal in Norway. She is ranked first in the all-time Cross-Country World Cup rankings with seventy-five individual victories. That’s a lot!

Bjørgen is also the most successful sprinter in Cross-Country World Cup history, with twenty-nine victories. One of her most remarkable achievements was becoming the most successful athlete at the 2010 Winter Olympics. There she won five medals, including three gold medals.

She also won three gold medals at the 2014 Winter Olympics. With these medals, she became better than Raisa Smetanina and Stefania Belmondo. These are one of the best skiers in the world. But now Marit is the most medaled female Winter Olympian.

So we can say that she is one of the greatest female cross country skier in history.

Marit Bjørgen was awarded for ‘The International Fair Play Mecenate award’ for 2014. The jury of the Fair Play Mecenate consists of members from all continents and represents the international sports media and international sports organisations.

Isn’t that amazing? I hope she wins, then I win a lot of money!

This trip was an amazing idea, I met a lot of new people and it was just fantastic. These are memories that I will never forget!
