If you come to Germany, you should definitely visit Europa-Park. This is a huge theme park with attractions for the whole family. There are high-adrenaline rides that are really scary but we had a lot of fun. One of them goes at over 100 km/h! No panic if this is nothing for you, there are also a lot of other attractions you will enjoy. Besides, there are also beautiful shows every day. A great statue of Euro Mouse greeted us at the entrance. This is the mascot of the park. The day we spent in this theme park has been the most fun day of our trip so far.

Next stop is the Berlin Wall. It divided the city in two from 1961 to 1989. We took the route for walkers, the Berlin Wall Trail, that follows the path of the former wall. We learned a lot during our walk because there are information panels installed to explain the story of the Berlin Wall.

The Old Town of Bamberg is often referred to as the Rome of Franconia, so we had to go visit it. Bamberg is surrounded by beautiful countryside and stands on seven hills. The town is unique and has a baroque architecture. The old town exists out of three historical districts: the episcopal town, the island town and the market gardener’s town.

These three are an interesting example of how towns were built up in the early Middle Ages in Europe. And of course, typical for Germany, there is also Bamberg’s beer. We had to try this out so we participated to the special Beer Tasting Tour, which took us to various bars and breweries in the town.

During our trip in Germany, we made our own fairy tale adventure! There is a fairy tale route in Germany of 600 km, it takes you from the birthplace of the Brothers Grimm to Bremen. It was enchanting to visit the medieval towns, bewitched castles and fairy tale palaces. There are also fairy tale festivals! You can bump into some of your favourite characters out of the fairy tales. It just seems a world away when you actually live the fairy tale and even visit Sleeping Beauty’s castle! I included a video clip that may give you a better view on how it all looks.

I have to go now, it is time to visit Auschwitz in the next country, Poland!
